w/ Beth McKee Beth McKee offers songs of tenacity and purpose, sung to a deep southern groove, and the result is a sound that is a composite of the places she’s called home; Mississippi, Texas, Louisiana, North Carolina and Florida. Downbeat Magazine says Beth “honors blues, r&b, gospel and southern rock traditions just as surely as she gives them contemporary voice in her fresh-as-a-Gulf-breeze music” and Living Blues described her latest release Sugarcane Revival as a “superb album of introspective Gulf Coast roots music.” McKee was recently featured in Orlando Weekly as one of fourteen artists who are reshaping the Orlando music scene and PBS station, WUCF-TV has two shows featuring McKee in rotation. Beth’s desire to give back to the communities she has visited inspired her to found a network of over 2,700 southern women, dubbed her Swamp Sistas, a reference to her musical sound and the region it emerged from. With help from the group, Beth hosts gatherings, called “Swamp Sistas La Las,” a re-vamp on the traditional Creole house party. The Swamp Sista La Las are celebrations of regional music, food, and culture, raising money and awareness for community causes and organizations. In addition to touring and La La coordinating, McKee mentors other songwriters, conducts songwriting clinics as musical “informances” at various southern Universities and leads the “Swamp Sistas Songwriter Circle” performance collective. A new album entitled “Dreamwood Acres” is slated for release in May, 2018. The collection of original material was recorded and produced by John Pfiffner in Winston- Salem, North Carolina with creative assistance and musical contributions from songwriter Jeffery Dean Foster. http://www.bethmckee.com
