Afro-Cuban rhythms and chants, sticky grooves and freespirited jazz improvisation come together famously in the Latino Projekt The Florida based band is led by acclaimed percussionist Gumbi Ortiz, who's played/worked/recorded with Larry Coryell, Rachel Z, Gato Barbieri, the Afro-Cuban All Stars, Los Hombres Caliente, and Al Di Meola. The Latino Projekt is fronted by Cuban born Freddie Montes, a longtime favorite on the Florida music scene. Carribean-born drummer Frank Martinez, Jeremy Douglas on piano, and electric bassist Kenny Walker have collectively played with a variety of funk, rock, rap, Latin and jazz bands. Folks can't help moving their feet to the insistent beats, to be charmed by the charisma of Gumbi and singer-percussionist Freddie Montes, and taken with the exotic, but earthy sound of the band. If the polyrhythms don't get ya, the group's high spirits most definitely will.

is a Latin orchestra with brass, playing the music of Cuba, Puerto Rico, Spain
and South America at such venues and events such as Raymond James Stadium in Tampa,
Clearwater's Jazz Holiday and Miami's Calle Ocho. The band consists of a male
and a female vocalist, keyboards, bass, three percussionists and a brass section
of two trumpets, trombone and sax, that play with a tightness and power that rivals
jazz great, Tito Puente. If you're looking for something exciting and fresh, this
is the band that sets the standard for modern Latin jazz.
