Stand Back

" Gainesville, Gator quintet that creates an up tempo-acoustic-based pop sound with liberal doses funk, reggae, jazz and hip-hop They present well-crafted songs with lush vocal harmonies and an energetic live show with infectious guitar grooves: The music captures the chemistry that exists in the band Filled with introspective yet positive songwriting, their 2nd CD-Dreaming in Stereo talks about life – ambition, personal insecurity, man’s role in the world, both the struggles and joys of love STAND BACK sly, loose and rocking with a late-night agenda It’s three young men raised on rock ’n’ roll putting their own lunatic stamp on the Southern tradition of juke joint madness These boys make a greasy, honest sound that can’t be created in laboratories or with machines This music only rings true when played by crazies who have nothing to lose It’s heavy guitar rock that soaks the listener with licks that sizzle and riffs that go straight to the hips These are songs that speak to the undeniable truths that make folks howl at the moon, dance like fools and walk out of that death-trap cubicle and never return The freshly minted Stand Back EP is six original songs made the old-fashioned way — cut live one afternoon with Steve Connelly at his Zen Recordings in Pinellas Park Raise a glass, shake your ass and enjoy "

Eilen Jewell

"Chuck sings with a raspy, unfettered emotion and plays jagged guitar chords A polite cynic, his songs are filled with gallows humor, self-depreciation and a world weary indifference brought about by cult like status in the 80’s in LA & UK and junkie excess Just out of his teens he was the creative spark of the mid-80’s psychedelic-roots misfits GREEN ON RED, an early precursor of today’s Americana-roots-rock movement His songs have been recorded by Kelly Willis, Kim Richey and he has worked on projects with Cake, Warren Zevon, Kelly Willis and the Silos and has been called the missing link between Bob Dylan and Paul Westerberg He plays a dense and evocative guitar that bridges the 60’s – 90’s: sometimes a weary jangle, sometimes blazing experimentalism with a mixture of romantic confession, existential dread and deadpan wit "
